Department Mission Statement

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department is committed to providing undergraduate and graduate students with effective and innovative educational experiences that prepare them to address the technological, professional, and societal opportunities in their careers. Rooted in Augustinian Catholic values, the Department cultivates leaders who integrate ethical responsibility, a collaborative spirit, and the pursuit of knowledge to design solutions that serve the common good. The Department brings value to the 无码专区 community and the broader world through research that advances engineering and scientific knowledge.

 

Program Educational Objectives: Chemical Engineering

Consistent with the University鈥檚 Augustinian Catholic mission that values broadly educated, well-rounded individuals, recent graduates of the Chemical Engineering program are prepared to:

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that recognizes their professional and ethical responsibilities to society.
  • Apply their technical capabilities and interpersonal skills to collaborate and succeed in their chosen career.
  • Leverage professional opportunities that facilitate their continued learning and career growth.
     

Student Outcomes: Chemical Engineering

Upon completion of the program, the Chemical Engineering graduate will demonstrate an ability to:

  1. Identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  2. Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors.
  3. Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  4. Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of the engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental and social contexts.
  5. Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  6. Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  7. Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
